We are pleased to announce that on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019, the Dataw Island Owner’s Association (DIOA) completed the purchase of the Dataw Island Marina from the previous ownership group.
The community immediately began renovating the property and making needed repairs and upgrades. During the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2019, the DIOA has rejuvenated the dry stack operation for all local boaters to use, utilizing our 20-ton forklift and our 50-ton Travel Lift. We are inteh process of removing the unneeded and damaged pilings that are in the water and have constructed a 420-foot long shoreline dock for member slips. We plan to have gasoline available for overwater fueling in the coming weeks, with plans for diesel later on.
We have rebuilt the day dock and boat staging area and we have space for those wishing to visit the Dataw Marina. We will also have limited space for overnight docking in the near term for transient boaters passing through the area.
Ace Basin Boatworks operates a full-service boat service yard on the property and they will continue servicing Dataw Island Marina customers from the local area and beyond.
We are very excited to have completed the purchase of the Dataw Island Marina and look forward to reemerging as a vibrant part of the local Beaufort boating community!
